How long will my appointment take?

Expect that your initial consultation will take approximately 1 hour and subsequent appointments approximately 40 minutes.

Do I need a referral?

You only require a referral from your GP or Specialist if you are intending to claim your treatment costs through:

  • Workers Compensation (W/C)
  • Compulsory Third Party (CTP)
  • Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA)
  • Enhanced Primary Care Program (EPC)

How can I pay for my treatment?

We would appreciate full payment at time of consultation. We accept EFTPOS, Visa/MasterCard, Cash and Cheques. Health fund rebates are available at time of consultation via the HICAPS system. Please ensure you have your health fund card with you.

How much will I get back from my health fund?

That depends on your health fund and the level of cover for Physiotherapy that you have. It is best to check with your health fund.

Do I need an appointment or can I just come and wait?

We operate on an appointment only basis. Please call 9585-8392 and speak with our reception staff to arrange an appointment time.

How quickly can I get an appointment?

Appointments are sometimes available the same day, and often the next day. We can usually get most people in within 24hrs. If you are in a lot of pain please explain this to the reception staff and we will do all we can to get you in as soon as possible.

More than 1 part of me is sore - is that ok?

Please make this known at the time of booking your appointment. Be aware that additional areas for assessment and treatment require more time to be scheduled so effective intervention to be administered. An extended consultation is charged.

Can physiotherapy help with my balance or dizziness problem ?

Balance problems that relate to postural control and are associated with vertigo or weakness can be treated with specific exercise prescription. Vertigo or dizziness problems relating to peripheral or cervical vestibular origins can also be successfully treated with physiotherapy.

Can I see a certain physio?

If you would like to see a specific therapist please make this known at the time of booking your appointment. Please note that this may delay how quickly we are able to see you.

Can I organise a home visit?

Yes. Oatley Physiotherapy offers a comprehensive home visit service, particularly for the elderly.

What if I am running late?

Please call if you are running late for your scheduled appointment. We will do our best to continue to accommodate you however your appointment may need to be rescheduled.

Will my physio be on time?

We understand your time is important and we do our best to keep close to scheduled times. Unfortunately some cases do end up more complex than expected and we may end up running late. Pease feel free to call to check on how your therapist is running to time.

What if I forget about my appointment?

We reserve the right to apply an appointment cancellation fee of $25 if you do not give reasonable notice or fail to attend your scheduled appointment. This courtesy enables us to offer a better selection of appointment times and to reduce frustration during heavily booked periods.

Are my records confidential?

All records are confidential documents. It is the policy of this practice to maintain security of personal health information at all times and to ensure that this information is only available to authorised members of staff.
